The Torrance girls soccer team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Peninsula on Monday afternoon.
Alicia Sloss ensured a second defeat wouldn’t come on Thursday.
Sloss scored two goals — one in each half — to deliver the Tartars a 2-0 victory against visiting Lawndale in a nonleague match.
This was Torrance’s last nonleague tilt of the season. The Tartars (9-1-1) open Pioneer League play on Wednesday when they take on South.
Sloss struck early on, in the sixth minute, on an assist from Caitlyn Hedde. She netted another score in the 57th minute with an assist from Anika Rodriguez.
The Cardinals fell to 4-5 with the loss.
The victory ended a solid nonleague portion of the schedule for Torrance, which won the South Torrance Tournament last month.
